College Roundup: Vanguard men’s basketball beats Ottawa of Arizona

Isaiah Gentry had 21 points as the Vanguard University men’s basketball team beat Ottawa of Arizona 89-73 on Thursday in a nonconference game at home.
James Moore had 18 points for Vanguard, and Kieran Hayward scored 15.
The Lions (10-7) host Arizona Christian University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Vanguard 84, Ottawa 55: Victoria Chea had 18 points for the Lions in Thursday’s nonconference home game.
Tristen Rollon and Vanessa Murphy each scored 15 points for Vanguard (9-2), which hosts Arizona Christian University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Lewis 3, UC Irvine 2: Joel Schneidmiller had a match-high 22 kills for the host Anteaters, but the Flyers earned a 25-18, 21-25, 20-25, 25-20, 22-20 nonconference win Thursday.
Alexandre Nsakanda had 16 kills and nine digs for UC Irvine (1-1). Patrick Vorenkamp had 47 assists.
The Anteaters host Loyola of Chicago on Friday at 7 p.m.
