College Roundup: Vanguard men’s basketball loses at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Isaiah Gentry finished with a game-high 20 points in the Vanguard University men’s basketball team’s 85-83 loss at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Friday night’s exhibition game.

Jonah Tolmaire added 13 points, six assists and five rebounds for Vanguard. Aziz Seck and James Moore each scored 10 points.

Malek Harwell and Kyle Colvin scored 18 points apiece to pace the Mustangs.

Irvine Valley 101, Golden West 70: Eric Watson had 25 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for the visiting Rustlers on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Justin Kirksey also scored 17 points for Golden West (2-12, 0-3 in conference).

Riverside 92, Orange Coast 51: Myles Woods scored 16 points for the Pirates in Friday’s Orange Empire Conference game on the road.

Jonathan Ileleji and Aundrel Pua each scored 12 points for Orange Coast (3-11, 0-2 in conference).

The Pirates host Saddleback on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Cerritos 63, Orange Coast 52: Gracelynn Figueroa led the Pirates with 16 points in Friday’s nonconference game at OCC.

Lea Adame scored 12 for Orange Coast (2-11), which opens Orange Empire Conference play at Fullerton on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
