Fire destroys car in Ikea parking lot

Costa Mesa firefighters extinguished a car fire in Ikea’s busy parking lot Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Around 11 a.m., one fire engine and four firefighters were dispatched to the furniture store at Harbor Boulevard and South Coast Drive.
A 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was engulfed in flames, and it took firefighters about 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze, said Battalion Chief Tim Vasin. Six nearby cars were affected, mostly sustaining cosmetic damage.
The fire is considered accidental, Vasin said, adding no foul play is suspected and no injuries were reported.
Though the official cause is still being determined, investigators believe the fire started in the Pontiac’s trunk.
