A suspicious device found outside a coffee shop Huntington Beach on Monday was cleared by police and deemed not a threat.
Police received a call around 1:45 p.m. regarding a 3-by-6-inch item with exposed wires placed on top of a table outside the Starbucks at Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue, Lt. Gary Faust said.
Police cleared the plaza and the area where the package was found, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was called in after officers initially identified the item as a possible explosive device, Faust said.
After about two hours, authorities determined that the item was a battery charger, Faust said.
