Memorial service for Jeannette Merrilees

A memorial service for Jeannette York Merrilees will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 428 Park Ave. followed by a reception at 2:30 at the Woman’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Drive.

Merrilees died Oct. 14 at home. She was 83 and had lived in Laguna Beach for 40 years. She fought to preserve the Laguna greenbelt and improve public education.

She is survived by her husband, Edward, of Laguna Beach; her brother, Edwin York of New Jersey; her three children: Craig of Sausalito, Neil of Half Moon Bay and Alison of Sacramento; and four grandchildren.
