Historical society hosts spring opening

The Costa Mesa Historical Society is hosting a membership drive during its spring opening this weekend.
The event, which coincides with Costa Mesa’s 60th anniversary celebrations this year, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the society’s museum in Lions Park, 1870 Anaheim Ave. New exhibits also will be unveiled.
Hank Panian, a retired Orange Coast College history professor, is the featured guest speaker. The longtime resident will speak about the birth of Costa Mesa at 2:30 p.m.
Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
