Exposures not randomly done

Costa Mesa police said Wednesday that a weekend incident where a man exposed himself to a woman was not a random act, and the public does not need to be alarmed.

On Sunday morning, a woman living in the 500 block of Wendy Lane was awakened when a man pulled up the sheets that were covering her as she slept.

The man was fully nude and had an erection, said Sgt. Phil Myers.

Detectives determined that the man and woman actually knew each other and that a second woman who was in the room at the time did not file a complaint with police, Myers said.

When the woman woke up to see the naked man standing at her bedside, she screamed and he ran out of the house, police said.
