The Corona del Mar High boys’ soccer team will play for its CIF Southern Section title Friday at 7 p.m. at Mission Viejo High.
The top-seeded Sea Kings (23-1-1) will vie for the Division IV crown against unbeaten La Mirada (23-0-4), which is also making its first CIF section final appearance in boys’ soccer.
CdM, which earlier this season was ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN RISE, is ranked No. 9 in the U.S. The Sea Kings have outscored opponents, 73-11, this season and have recorded 15 shutouts.
La Mirada set a school record for wins with a 2-1 victory at No. 2-seeded Laguna Hills Tuesday, according to the Whittier Daily News. The Matadores also set a new school mark for shutouts in a season with 16.
