Our beloved father, grandfather and
great-grandfather, James Weller Anderton,
left this world peacefully January 30,
2010.
He was born November 30, 1922, in
Dayton, Ohio. He spent most of his 87
years in Southern California, graduating
from North Hollywood High School
where he met and later married the love
of his life, Shirley. Jim and Shirley were
married in 1944 while he was on leave
from the U.S. Navy where he proudly
served his country in the South Pacific during World War II.
Jim spent most of his life in the men’s clothing business. He
became a familiar face at Fashion Island in Newport Beach where
he last worked at Gary’s and Company.
After retirement he continued to enjoy his home, his love of
sports and mostly his family. He is survived by his two daughters,
Carol and Tricia, son-in-law Dave; grandchildren Traci and Travis
and their spouses Steve and Ann; great-grandchildren Alison,
Mark, Mason, Christian, Emily, TJ and Ava.
His family is honored to have been able to call him father,
grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves us with fond
memories of a man quick to offer a smile, patience like no other
and the capacity to love that was immeasurable. You will be missed
more than words can say.
