Arrests solve earlier crimes, police say

Police said Thursday that a handful of arrests at a local hotel earlier this month has solved nearly 10 burglaries throughout Orange County.

According to Newport Beach police, when officers arrested one man and three women Feb. 4 outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel off Jamboree Road in Newport Beach, they were closing the book on burglaries in Anaheim, Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach.

Officers arrested Anthony Wayne Johnson, 33, of Santa Ana; Sarah Jane-Louise Henderson, 26, and Angela Christina Henderson, 28, both of Westminster; and a 17-year-old girl from Cypress after seeing the group load property into a stolen white 2004 Infiniti I35 in the hotel parking lot, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. Police had been receiving reports of criminal activity there linked to drugs, burglaries and identity theft.

Police pulled the Infiniti over outside the hotel and found it had been reported stolen two days earlier in Huntington Beach, officials said. Inside the car, police found a large amount of drugs and stolen property. A search there and in the group’s hotel room at the Hyatt turned up wallets, IDs, credit cards, computers and phones, Sailor said.

Each person was arrested on various drug or burglary charges or probation violations. Johnson’s in custody in lieu of $1 million, Sarah Henderson’s bail is $150,000, Angela Henderson’s bail is $100,000, and the teenager was taken into protective custody on suspicion of vehicle theft. Court records show the three adults have previous drug and theft convictions. Each pleaded not guilty to their most recent charges.
