RSI Development Appoints New CEO

RSI Development, a homebuilding/development company, today announced the appointment of industry leader Jay L. Moss as chief executive officer. Moss brings to RSI Development more than three decades of experience in all facets of the homebuilding process—from data and market research to branding, sales and management. Combining his vision, innovation, creativity and team-building capabilities, he will take the lead in igniting nationwide growth for the company, whose mission is to provide the highest quality, best priced, most attainable new homes for first-time buyers and working families in sustainable neighborhoods throughout the country.

“RSI Development is dedicated to transforming the process of building homes and effectively carrying this model through to landowners, municipalities and consumers across the nation,” said Ronald M. Simon, chairman and founder of RSI Development. “Jay Moss’s deep understanding of the industry, along with his proven track record of boosting profitability and productivity, make him the ideal candidate to lead RSI with its vision of building sustainable, beautiful homes and communities throughout the United States.”

Jay L. Moss: Innovation, Inspiration, Results

Moss first established himself as a real estate market leader and driver when he created, grew and sold a 50-person, multi-state sales and marketing research company at a very young age. This represented the first time in the industry that market data and research was married with the concept of selling homes. Since then, Moss has further demonstrated his innovation and leadership as an influential force behind real estate giant KB Home, where he was consistently appointed by the CEO to lead major initiatives that defined the company’s transformation over 15 years of industry change. As homebuilders expanded nationally, Moss led KB Home’s first startup outside of California in more than a decade to become one of the largest producing divisions of any homebuilder in the U.S. at the time, with profits of approximately $40 million. During this high-growth phase, Moss also supported the company’s need for improved performance and efficiency by successfully blending newly acquired Lewis Homes with KB Home’s operating and business model. His efforts resulted in the successful integration of four operating divisions and gaining momentum, Moss led a two-year turnaround of struggling Los Angeles operations.

“In my many years of experience, I have closely tracked industry trends and recognized land acquisition, real estate, production and marketing as the four factors absolutely necessary for a successful homebuilding company,” said Moss. “RSI Development has a winning formula that combines all these factors to deliver a product that no homebuilder has ever delivered before—and at the perfect time. The current market conditions, along with the recent economic turmoil, create the opportunity for RSI to achieve dynamic growth while redefining homebuilding standards for cost as well as quality.”

RSI Development: Attaining Growth through Strategic Partnerships

Although less land is currently available in California, Moss will leverage his relationships in the industry to secure deals and partnerships on behalf of RSI Development. Under his charge, RSI Development will continue working closely with cities and government agencies to form private/public partnerships that increase homeownership options for those who have previously been unable to realize their American dream. At the same time, Moss will lead

the company in working with land holders and master plan developers to secure land opportunities where it can bring distinctive neighborhoods and communities to fruition—delivering on the builder/developer’s signature promise of enhanced value at lower-than-prevailing costs in competitive, market-driven environments. By working strategically and aggressively, Moss aims to produce 1,000 units, beginning in California, by then end of 2010.

Building Houses Better, Faster, Cheaper

Moss stands strongly behind RSI Development’s pioneering business model, which increases efficiencies in every aspect of product development, sustainable design, supply chain management, material specifications, labor utilization, and the delivery of homes that represent the highest value in every category and market in which it builds. The result, RSI’s Precision-Built Construction System, is a construction methodology that improves overall quality and efficiency, while also conserving the earth’s resources with strategies that engineer out most of the waste and contain costs.

Currently, Moss is an active member of the Building Industry Association as well as the UC Irvine Chief Executive Roundtable. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from San Diego State University.
