More wet weather expected next week

The forecast for Saturday calls for only a 20% chance of rain, and Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny, according to the National Weather Service. But next week is expected to be a smaller scale repeat of this week, with showers rolling in again, although with not as much strength.
Over the past few days, strong surf and equally powerful swells combined to erode part of the Balboa Peninsula, prompting lifeguards to move dozens of lifeguard towers back by 20 feet, said Jon Mitchell, a lifeguard captain.
“It’s put us a little bit on edge,” said Mitchell. “But there’ll be another swell down the line that will redeposit the sand at some point. It’s just a matter of time.”
Mitch White, a Newport lifeguard batallion, said tons of sand have been swept as far as Huntington Beach.
More to come.
