LA JOLLA — The Sailors had eight players score, led by senior Kaleigh Gilchrist, who put in five goals in the nonleague game Saturday.

Gilchrist, bound for USC, also had three assists and one steal.

Senior Kate Klippert, who has commited to UC Berkeley, contributed three goals, four assists and three steals for Newport Harbor.

Colleen McCall added three goals, one assist and one steal, and Brittany Harris finished with three goals. Goalie Krissy Burger recorded nine saves.

Newport Harbor will face Edison in a Sunset League game Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Sailors’ pool, before playing in the two-day Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions Friday.

COSTA MESA — Junior Cassie Stratton scored 23 points and Yesenia Maldonado added 13 for the Eagles in the nonleague home game Saturday.

Senior reserves Vanessa Recconco (two points) and Amanda Chase (strong defense) also stood out, Estancia Co-Coach Xavier Castellano said.

Estancia (9-10) visits Godinez Thursday night.
