NEWPORT BEACH — The Corona del Mar High wrestling team got pins from Ryan Grainger (112 pounds), Cody Longwith (125), Chad Caraway (135) and Danny Busch (152) to earn a 36-35 win over host Newport Harbor in the annual Battle of the Bay dual meet Thursday.
Corona del Mar captures the Golden Singlet trophy that goes to the annual winner, ending a string of four straight wins in the series for the Tars (5-4).
Newport Harbor had pins from Ryan Cerrato (160) and heavyweight Lewis Loeb.
Jesus Sotelo (130) won a major decision for the Tars.

COSTA MESA — Senior Natalie Argueta scored both goals for the Mustangs in the nonleague contest Thursday at Estancia High.
Marisol Huicochea and Hayley Price each had assists for Mesa (4-3-2), which received two saves from Hayley Smith.
The Mustangs play St. Paul and Santa Fe in the Bellflower Tournament Saturday.

SANTA ANA — Sarah Cox made what Sea Kings Coach Bryan Middelton said were six phenomenal saves in the first round of pool play in the Mater Dei Tournament Thursday at Mater Dei High.
“Cox [a sophomore] was definitely the player of the match for us today,” Middelton said.
The Diablos scored with about 15 mintues left off a corner kick to drop CdM, ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division II poll, to 4-2-1.
CdM faces Los Alamitos, ranked No. 2 in CIF Division I, in a pool-play game today.

WESTMINSTER — Junior guard Ramon Mejia had 14 points to lead the Sea Kings in the quarterfinals of the Orange Holiday Classic Thursday at Westminster High.
Danny Cheek had 13 points and seven rebounds, and Parker Stone had 11 points and three blocks for CdM (4-2).
The Sea Kings play Marina in a tournament semifinal at 6 tonight, at the same venue.

ANAHEIM — Eagles senior Jesus Antonio hit a three-pointer with five seconds left to force overtime in the second round of pool play at the Fairmont Prep Tournament Thursday at Fairmont Prep.
But the Saints held the Eagles to two points in the extra session.
Senior Kohl Jones had 16 points for Estancia (6-4), which has lost three straight.
The Eagles continue pool play tonight, facing Citrus Valley at 6.

SANTA ANA — Sophomore Kasey Thompson had 16 points and seven rebounds, while junior Alex Morton contributed 11 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Sailors in the pool-play game Thursday at the Segerstrom Tournament at Segerstrom High.
Newport Harbor (5-3) meets Capistrano Valley in a third-place semifinal today at 4:30 p.m.

LONG BEACH — Senior Kaleigh Gilchrist recorded four goals, three assists and three steals in the Sailors’ nonleague match at Belmont Plaza Wednesday.
Katie Jackson scored three goals, and Kate Klippert and Kailyn Obenauer added two goals apiece for Newport Harbor (3-0).
Goalie Krissy Burger made four saves.
Newport Harbor plays host to rival Corona del Mar in the Battle of the Bay today at 4 p.m.
