GIRLS’ GOLF

Golden West League finals

CHINO — Estancia High’s Ashley Peters became the Golden West League champion, winning the title by one stroke over Grace Komoroczy of Laguna Beach Tuesday on El Prado Golf Course’s Butterfield Stage.

Peters shot a three-over-par 75 Monday and an 81 Tuesday, finishing 12-over 156.

Peters, as well as Kim Haycraft, Jeana de Arakal and Nicole Irigoyen advanced to the CIF Southern Section Individual Southern Regionals, which are Monday at Hemet Golf Club’s Landmark.

Haycraft (89-86-175) finished third, de Arakal (91-85-176) was fourth and Irigoyen (92-90-182) was fifth.

Estancia, the Golden West League champion, will compete in the CIF Southern Team Divisional Nov. 5 at El Prado Golf Course.

Sunset League finals

CHINO HILLS — Newport Harbor High’s Lauren Draganza, Charlotte Skjonsby and Morgan Moody advanced to the CIF Southern Section Individual Southern Regionals after their respective performances in the shortened Sunset League finals Tuesday at El Prado

The competitors played nine holes Monday, but just 13 of 18 Tuesday because the pace went slower than expected.

Draganza shot five-over-par 58 Tuesday and finished third. She shot six-over 95 for her two-day total. Skjonsby (40-58-98) finished fourth and Moody (40-62-102) was fifth.

Esther Lee of Los Alamitos won the Sunset League title, as she shot one-under 89.

Newport Harbor, the Sunset League champion, will compete in the CIF Central Team Divisional Nov. 5 at Jurupa Hills Country Club in Riverside.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. Irvine

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior outside hitter Sydney Brombal finished with 10 kills and two service aces, helping the Sea Kings to a 25-17, 25-9, 25-19 Pacific Coast League victory Tuesday.

CdM, ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA poll, improved to 16-3, 7-0 in league.

Madie Smith had 32 assists and 10 digs. Mary McKennon contributed three aces.

The Sea Kings play at University Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Brethren Christian

NEWPORT COAST — Senior outside hitter Lindsey Kish recorded 12 kills and 15 digs as the Lightning won the Academy League match, 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20, on senior night.

Senior Madison Gordon-Lavaee, coming off an ankle injury, finished with 10 kills and five service aces.

Zoe Kreitenberg had eight kills and two blocks for Sage Hill (10-9, 6-1 in league), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA.

The Lightning play Crean Lutheran Friday at Irvine Valley College at 7 p.m.

SAN CLEMENTE — Katie Bick and Rian Billingsley swept No. 1 doubles play on Tuesday for the Lightning, who lost to the rival Tartans for the second time this year in Academy League play.

Sage Hill (12-8, 8-2 in league), ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division IV poll, will finish second in league for the second straight year behind the top-ranked Tartans (17-0, 10-0).

Bick and Billingsley handed St. Margaret’s No. 1 doubles team of Haley Miller and Melanie Hess their first loss in two years, Sage Hill Coach A.G. Longoria said.

Julia Blakeley, playing No. 1 singles for the Lightning, won two sets before being pulled.
