Newport restaurant week begins today

Newport Beach Restaurant Week hits town this week to serve up prix-fixe menus at more than 50 local restaurants.

The citywide event runs today through Sunday with lunch or dinner menus ranging from $10 to $40.

This time around, diners who eat at a participating restaurant during Restaurant Week will earn a gratuity card good for 20% off their next meal and a complimentary bottle of Perrier water.

Restaurant Week will kick off with a gala celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Cannery Restaurant, 3010 Lafayette Ave.

The launch party will include food and drink specials, giveaways and live entertainment.
