Suspect in gloves robs store Sunday
A gloved man with a dark-colored bandanna or shirt over his face stole $686 from a store in the 19000 block of Brookhurst Street at 2:47 a.m. Sunday.
The suspect showed a black semiautomatic handgun during the robbery, authorities said.
The man left on foot southbound, after he was given money from the store’s cash register.
Whose jacket is this?
A woman claimed that her ex-boyfriend kept texting her that he was going to kill her, and told police that she wanted her jacket back from him, in the 6200 block of Warner Avenue at 11:55 a.m. Sunday.
The boyfriend told police he wanted his girlfriend to stop texting him, and that he wanted his own jacket back from her.
Police advised the former couple about how to get restraining orders, and exchanged their jackets for them.
Villa Yorba Lane: A man said he confronted a man who was breaking into vehicles in the 16000 block at 12:20 a.m. Sunday.
Sims Street: A caller said they smelled and saw smoke near their home in the 16800 block at 2:35 a.m. Sunday.
Volga Drive: A caller said he went to his ex-girlfriend’s house and argued with her, and she tried to jump off the second-floor balcony in the 7500 block at 2:47 a.m. Sunday.
Ardsley Circle: A caller said her husband’s ex-wife keptshowing up at their house and calling in the middle of the night, demanding money, in the 16300 block at 7:28 a.m. Sunday. Police told the woman not to come back to the residence.
Amazon Drive: A caller said his car, which was last driven by his girlfriend’s son, was missing. However, he had the keys to the car, he said, in the 7600 block at 8:05 a.m. Sunday.
Yorkshire Lane at Brunswick Drive: Two men were seen casing open garages at 10:38 a.m. Sunday.
Edinger Avenue: A belligerent transient was seen swearing at customers in a parking lot in the 7700 block at 11:10 a.m. Sunday.
Goldenwest Street at Edinger Avenue: A man was seen swearing and yelling in a toy store parking lot and other locations at 1:21 p.m. Sunday.
Beach Boulevard at Slater Avenue: A caller said they were jumped by four to five people at 12:38 a.m. Sunday.
Coolwater Lane: A husband and wife were fighting over their grown-up son and disturbing the peace in the 18800 block at 12:40 a.m. Sunday. Police advised the couple to go to sleep in separate parts of their residence.
Sterling Avenue: A caller said they saw that at least 10 vehicles in their neighborhood had been egged in the 8100 block at 1:28 a.m. Sunday. Police were unable to find any vehicles that had been egged, but did find a broken egg and egg cartons in the neighborhood.
Ellis Avenue: A caller said a drunken man threatened and yelled at him in the 7900 block at 1:41 a.m. Sunday.
Beach Boulevard: A “very drunk†woman was seen hitting the door of a business and screaming, four hours after being kicked out of the business, in the 18500 block at 1:42 a.m. Sunday.
Gothard Street: A woman said she hadn’t gotten her credit card back yet, a day after giving it to a man she met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, in the 17200 block at 1:51 a.m. Sunday.
Newland Street: A caller said they found their boat had been covered in graffiti in the 18000 block at 1:02 p.m. Sunday.
Pacific Coast Highway: A drunken man was sleeping under the stairs in a hotel lobby, and acting belligerently when disturbed or asked to leave, in the 500 block at 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
Pacific Coast Highway: Two men were yelling and swearing at a caller from across a gate in the 200 block at 2:23 a.m. Sunday.
Lake Street: A caller said a purse and two leather briefcases were discovered stolen from her home in the 1700 block at 8:16 a.m. Sunday. A door may have been used, but there was no sign of forced entry.
Huntington Street: A caller said a purse, computer, bank statements and keys were stolen from their home in the 2000 block at 8:37 a.m. Sunday. A sliding glass door may have been used for entry.
Huntington Street: Sunglasses and papers were discovered stolen from a garage in the 2000 block at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. The thief entered a car parked in the garage.
Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway: Three people were seen cutting a chain link fence at an empty lot and then charging people to park there fro the holiday weekend at 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Police cited them.
Islander Lane: A caller discovered a man inside his vehicle in the 22000 block at 1:20 a.m. Sunday. The man escaped on foot.
Mermaid Circle: A caller complained about a loud party’s “jungle†music in the 8000 block at 1:32 a.m. Sunday.
Brookhurst Street: A drunken man who couldn’t remember his address said there was a fight going on somewhere in the 21600 block at 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
Cindy Lane: A drunken man pounded on the caller’s door, terrifying her and her children, in the 19300 block at 6:19 a.m. Sunday. The man was picked up by police and transported to his home.
Hamilton Avenue at Bushard Street: A woman said a man had been using a Dumpster near her home as a bathroom, and the stench was unbearable, at 11:41 a.m. Sunday.
Brookhurst Street: Petty theft was reported at a drug store in the 18300 block at 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
Placer River Circle: Fireworks disturbed the peace in the 10300 block at 7:59 p.m. Sunday.
Garfield Avenue at the riverbed: Shots were heard at 8:02 p.m. Sunday.
Bushard Street: Juveniles disturbed the peace at a high school in the 17800 block at 8:26 p.m. Sunday.
Los Jardines East: Vandalism was discovered in the 10800 block at 8:25 a.m. Sunday.
Yucca Circle: Automotive tampering was discovered in the 16500 block at 8:46 a.m. Sunday.
