Planet Beauty in Newport Beach raised more than $1,700 at its first Orange County Beauty Night for the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
At the June 25 event, customers were given complimentary beauty treatments like hair styling, hand massages, eyebrow waxing, and skin and makeup consultations.
Local firefighters sold raffle tickets to raise money for the OC Race for the Cure, taking place Sept. 27 at Fashion Island. Prizes included a dinner for six people at a firehouse, gift baskets and gift certificates to restaurants, spas and country clubs.
Newport Beach City Councilwoman Leslie Daigle also presented business awards to local Orange County-based beauty vendors, including Irvine-based Too Faced Cosmetics, as well as skin care company AminoGenesis, bath and body manufacturer Archipelago, luxury candle company Voluspa, and hair-care companies Colure True Color Care and ghd.
Planet Beauty is at 3601 Jamboree Road in Newport Beach.
