Police Files:

It’s not often you hear about someone getting charged with burglary for returning something to a store, but that’s just what happened to Calvin Valrie from Buena Park last week, according to police.

Valrie, 34, was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary when he tried to return a $2,595 leather jacket to Neiman Marcus in Fashion Island in February.

Police said a person from Florida had been the victim of identity theft, and the unidentified suspect had used their identity to purchase two gift cards to Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills.

Authorities did get the man on video, though, Sgt. Evan Sailor said. Come February, Valrie had the jacket in question and tried to return it to the Newport Beach store, Sailor said.

Police arrested Valrie in his Buena Park home following their investigation.
