Schools, parks see some vandalism
There were several incidents of vandalism reported at area schools and parks Monday morning.
A caller discovered their school in the 7600 block of Warner Avenue was broken into overnight, and called police at 8:12 a.m. Monday. The suspects lit a trash can on fire in the preschool area, and broke into two classrooms. A fire extinguisher was sprayed all over one room; in the other, a Christian flag was taken, and someone wrote a gang insignia in chalk on the chalkboard.
Another caller at 8:28 a.m. from a school in the 19600 block of Lexington Lane said someone wrote an anti-Semitic threat and other messages and drawings in chalk on the basketball court over the weekend. Graffiti also was discovered at 10:32 a.m. on a jungle gym and sidewalk in a park at Brunswick Drive and Yorkshire Lane.

Beach Boulevard: A hotel guest stood in a fast-food drive-through asking people in cars to buy him food in the 16300 block at 1:21 a.m. Monday.
Nyanza Drive: A man at a caller’s front door was knocking and saying “Kodiak†in the 6900 block at 6:02 a.m. Monday. The man then went to the side of the house and turned the water on before police arrested him for trespassing.
Heil Avenue: Three cases of Route 66 beer and $100 in cash were reported stolen during a smash-and-grab robbery at a store in the 7200 block at 9:10 a.m. Monday.
Center Avenue: A caller said a former employee at their hotel stole about $500 from a cash deposit in the 7600 block at 10:16 a.m. Monday. The caller said the former employee was fired and promised to repay the money; if she did not do so, they would file a police report.
Beach Boulevard: A caller said someone threw bricks through the windows of a vacant building, also breaking the parking lot, in the 16400 block at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Pacific Coast Highway at Goldenwest Street: A car drove into a bus bench at 7:34 a.m. Monday. The driver appeared uninjured.
Goldenwest Street: A high school student said he was threatened by a man with a knife who pretended to stab at his vehicle at a fast-food restaurant in the 19100 block at 8:08 a.m. Monday.
Garfield Avenue at Goldenwest Street: A transient was reported as a suspicious person after he was seen talking to himself, saying “looks like he’s in a world of trouble,†12:36 p.m. Monday. Police determined the man was just talking about the GM bankruptcy.
Pueblo Circle: A caller said their Lowe’s credit card number was used in Florida for a fraudulent $702.19 purchase May 27 in the 18500 block at 1:18 p.m. Monday.

Southwind Circle: A caller said his girlfriend texted him that there was someone in her house and to call the police in the 7800 block at 2:08 a.m. Monday. The girlfriend, when contacted, said she had just seen a “figure†in her window. There was no sign of a break-in.
Pacific Coast Highway: A caller thought they heard a woman saying “Oh no, no†outside, but police were unable to locate anyone in the 2100 block at 3:49 a.m. Monday.
Pacific Coast Highway: A caller said a bike was stolen May 28 from the 300 block at 9:10 a.m. Monday.
Main Street: Bees were seen swarming around a sign that read “No Tobacco†in the 1900 block at 10:36 a.m. Monday.

Beach Boulevard: People who attempted to run out of a convenience store with beer dropped it when they were chased; one suspect then tried to come back and purchase the beer in the 19100 block at 12:51 a.m. Monday.
Hamilton Avenue at Spyglass Lane: A caller said occupants of a van parked at the location dump urine and feces in the street every morning at 6:42 a.m. Monday.
Lomond Drive: A backpack filled with Huntington Beach lifeguard uniform components and patches was reported stolen overnight from a vehicle in the 8300 block at 11:18 a.m. Monday.
Amador Circle: A caller from the 8900 block at 11:32 a.m. Monday said their elderly parents, one of whom has advanced dementia and the other who is blind, are missing $3,900 in silverware and $15,000 to $20,000 worth of other items from their Oakridge Circle condo.

Phoenix Avenue: A residential burglary was reported in the 8500 block at 5:04 p.m. Monday.
Brookhurst Street: Petty theft was reported from a restaurant in the 18000 block at 7:43 p.m. Monday.
Brookhurst Street: A beer run was committed at a grocery store in the 18400 block at 8:56 p.m. Monday.

El Centro Avenue: Police assisted in a domestic dispute in the 10800 block at 2:05 p.m. Monday.
Brookhurst Street: Petty theft was reported from a diner in the 16200 block at 3:06 p.m. Monday.
Edinger Avenue: Vandalism was reported in the 11100 block at 4:12 p.m. Monday.
La Rosa Lane: A case of automotive tampering was reported in the 10600 block at 8:26 p.m. Monday.
Jojoba Avenue: A stolen vehicle was reported in the 9300 block at 6:12 a.m. Monday. Petty theft was reported from a separate residence on the same block at 7:01 a.m. Monday.
Euclid Street: Vandalism was reported from a park in the 16800 block at 10:15 a.m. Monday.
