Resident honored for her business planning

Assemblyman Jim Silva honored Huntington Beach resident Janice Mittermeier as Woman of the Year for the 67th Assembly District.
Mittermeier served as chief executive of Orange County from 1995 to 2000, at which time she successfully directed the county’s recovery from bankruptcy in only 18 months. Mittermeier, who was honored as Woman of the Year at the state capitol Monday, previously oversaw a $310-million airport expansion as director of John Wayne Airport. She is a senior vice president with Cofiroute USA, which manages and provides consulting services to toll facilities throughout the United States.
In addition, Mittermeier serves as first vice president for the Cal State Fullerton Executive Council Board and serves on the UCI Advisory Committee for Planning and Social Ecology. She lives in Huntington Beach with her husband of more than 50 years, Ron.
“I am proud to present Jan with this prestigious award,†Silva said in a news release. “Orange County has long been a beneficiary of her superior expertise in business planning and management as well as her community involvement.â€
“I am grateful to Assemblyman Silva for selecting me as Woman of the Year,†Mittermeier said in the news release. “It is an honor to be recognized by the legislature for my commitment to solid business acumen.â€
The Woman of the Year Award is presented annually by each legislative district in the State of California to pay tribute to the accomplishments of women.
