Teens get a chance at CERT Friday, Saturday

The Costa Mesa Fire Department will begin Teen Community Emergency Response Team classes Friday with this weekend and next being residents’ chance to get their kids involved in emergency preparedness.
From 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, parents can learn the essentials for dealing with any large-scale disaster, be it natural or man-made. The classes are also available March 13 and 14 at the same times.
The teens, from 13 to 17 years old, will learn First-Aid basics, how to get their neighborhood involved and more advanced skills such as search-and-rescue and fire suppression. The classes are free and open to teens living in Costa Mesa. For more information, call Brenda Emrick at (714) 327-7406.
