COSTA MESA — Sophomore Drew Hillman went three for five with two runs, two doubles and a triple for the host Pirates in the nonconference game Thursday.
Freshman Mykal Stokes went two for three with four RBIs, two runs, a triple and a home run for OCC (6-5).
Sophomore Wallach, who pitched seven innings, also had two hits to go with an RBI.
Desert dropped to 2-9.

COSTA MESA — Sophomore center Alex Chapman led the Lions with 16 points and seven rebounds in the nonconference home game Thursday.
Chapman (22-3) shot 59.3% in the second half to pull away from a 31-31 halftime deadlock.
Griffin Ramme had 28 points, including five three-pointers for the Panthers.
Dennis Heenan (13) and Gregory Scott (11) also scored in double-figures for the Lions (7-18).

OCC improved to 5-0, 1-0 in conference.

COSTA MESA — Sophomore Brittany Bass (No. 1 singles) and freshman Heather Wong (No. 3 singles) won all 12 games to lead the host Pirates in their Orange Empire Conference opener Thursday.
OCC improved to 3-0, while IVC fellt o 2-4, 0-2 in conference.
Melissa Boyer, Nichole Naughton, Kalin Eshalman and Hannah Mancino also earned singles wins for OCC.
