A fire broke out in a Costa Mesa apartment Monday afternoon, displacing six adults and one child, officials said.
No one was hurt in the blaze, which was contained completely in one apartment, said Fire Capt. Rob Gagne, but the residents will be put up for the night by the Red Cross as their home is repaired.
“When we got there, there was smoke showing from the occupancy, and there was active fire that had to be extinguished,†Gagne said.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, according to authorities. About 20 firefighters were dispatched just before 3 p.m. to the scene at 241 Avocado St.
One room was severely burned, while the rest of the apartment sustained only smoke damage, Gagne said.
