Harlan C. Erickson
Harlan C. Erickson, beloved
husband of Lucy Erickson, and
long time Newport Beach resident,
passed away peacefully in
his sleep on January 17, 2009
at the age of 87.
Harlan was born in Minnesota
on July 15, 1921. Along with
his parents, 2 brothers and a
sister, he moved to Pasadena,
California in 1937. There he
attended the lower and upper
divisions of Pasadena Junior
College. In his final year he
served as student body president.
Harlan was also a proud graduate of USC, and a former
Navy pilot, serving honorably in both WWII and Korea.
Harlan, or “The Commander” as he was affectionately known
by his friends, was a successful real estate developer, an avid
golfer, sports fan, and all around guy.
He was a member of the Newport Beach Country Club, Big
Canyon Country Club, Thunderbird Country Club, Indian
Wells Country Club, Avondale Country Club, and PGA
West. He also belonged to the Elks, American Legion, the
Newport Beach Yacht Club, and the Balboa By Club.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Lucy, his granddaughter Allison,
of Bothell, Washington, and loads of friends.
God saw that Harlan was very tired and cure was not to be. So
he put his arms around him and whispered “Come to Me”.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memories
no one can steal. Not a day goes by that we don’t think of
you, Harlan.
