Brethren Christian Warriors have been collecting Transformers, Barbies, Beanie Babies and much more for the OC Firefighter’s Spark of Love Toy Drive the last two weeks. Friday morning, Brethren students delivered six cars filled with toys to ABC 7’s Garth Kemp at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Orange County Firefighters have teamed up with ABC 7 to fill Orange County Transportation Authority buses with toys for disadvantaged children.
The idea of helping children in need holds a special place in the heart of Brethren Christian sophomore Anya Burkholder. Anya was adopted from a Russian orphanage five years ago.
“I am so grateful for what has been done for me that I want to help other children,” Anya said, according to a news release. She works part time at a Target store and has used her earnings, coupled with her employee discount, to purchase bags of toys to donate.
This is the second year Brethren Christian has participated in the toy drive.
