FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND THE OCEAN INSTITUTE PARTNER IN EXHIBIT

The partnership between the Festival of Arts – California’s Premier Fine Art Show and The Ocean Institute has resulted in another art exhibit, which captures the essence of the beautiful oceanside communities in Southern California. “Coastal Visions,” the new exhibition at the Ocean Institute on view now through February 7, 2009, features seven Festival of Arts artists who will also participate in the 2009 summer art show in Laguna Beach.

Curator Pat Sparkuhl explained, “The artwork presented in the ‘Coastal Visions’ exhibit includes a wide range of artistic styles and responses to the coastal environment. The various artists’ perceptions of the ocean illustrate both a quality and a uniqueness on the part of the exhibiting artists.”

“Coastal Visions” exhibitors include Agnes Copeland (mixed media), Eric Gerdau (oils), Fred Hope (oils), Mark Jacobucci (oils), Todd Kenyon (oils), Jacquie Moffett (watercolors) and James Nordstrom (photography). Each Festival artist represented in “Coastal Visions” focuses on the sea or nautical imagery for the exhibition. Artistic mediums such as oils, watercolor, collage, acrylic painting, and photography are used to create representational, atmospheric and impressionistic styles, all of which show the viewer different interpretations of the magical and breathtaking ocean. The show explores how artists utilize the ocean as a muse, while highlighting the brilliant outcome of this inspiration.
