Individual tennis players begin CIF competition

Estancia High senior Ellie Edles, the two-time Orange Coast League champion bound for UC Davis, is one of nine local tennis players who will compete today in the CIF Individual tournament.

Edles, as well as fellow singles players Melissa Matsuoka of Corona del Mar and Academy League champion Julia Blakeley of Sage Hill School start at 8 a.m. at CdM.

The Sea Kings doubles teams of Karen Ishii and Kelli Feeley, the Pacific Coast League champions, as well as Lindsay Zotovich and Danielle Kaiden will be playing at Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club, where Sage Hill’s Isa-Maria Taskinen and Rian Billingsley will also be competing.

The first three rounds will be played today. Those who advance compete Dec. 4. The finals are Dec. 5.
