Wrist injury sidelines Romeo during Jr. tourney

Laguna Beach High’s Benito Romeo reached the semifinal round of the 16th annual Laguna Niguel Jr. Tennis Tournament in the Under-16 division last weekend before having to withdraw from the event due to a wrist injury.
The sophomore didn’t drop a set en route to making the semifinals of a tournament he won a year ago in the Under-14 division.
An X-ray revealed that Romeo had fractured a small wrist bone.
“It is really unfortunate that Benito will have to be in a wrist brace and stop playing for four to six weeks, but we are counting on him being back in playing shape by the beginning of the upcoming high school tennis season,” Laguna Beach Coach Aaron Talarico said.
Romeo and Laguna Beach High teammate Jake Michaels are the Breakers’ top two singles players.
