Families of soldiers to receive holiday turkeys

State Sen. Tom Harman will give away 80 turkeys to families of soldiers Friday at American Legion Post 291 on the Balboa Peninsula.
The Golden State Water Company bought 130 turkeys in all for Harman to distribute in his district during the Thanksgiving season. He’s giving away 20 at a shelter for pregnant women in Los Alamitos and a homeless shelter in Laguna Beach.
The bulk of the turkeys are given to military families though, according to district representative Emanuel Patrascu.
Post 291 is at 215 East 15th St. in Newport Beach.
