CdM’s Davis to play volleyball for Gauchos

Corona del Mar High senior Dylan Davis has committed to play volleyball for UC Santa Barbara, Coach Steve Conti said.

Davis joins former Sea Kings Scott Slaughter and Blaine Nielsen, who are also playing for the Gauchos.

CdM junior Weston Nielsen also plans to play for UCSB, as he has verbally committed to the school, Conti said.

Davis earned third-team All-CIF Southern Section Division II honors last year, when he also received first-team All-Pacific Coast League recognition.

Davis also received interest from UCLA, Pepperdine, USC and UC Irvine, Conti said.

Nielsen was a second-team all-league selection for the Sea Kings, who won the PCL title and reached the CIF Division II semifinals.
