Darryl Gan has an opportunity to win his first outright league girls’ volleyball championship in his first season as a varsity head coach.
Corona del Mar High plays host to Beckman in a Pacific Coast League showdown at 5:15 tonight.
The only league loss for the Sea Kings (17-6, 6-1 in league), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA poll, came against No. 10 Beckman (19-8, 5-2) last month.
The match went five games and prevented CdM from having the opportunity to finish league play undefeated for the third straight season.
With a victory, CdM claims the outright league title. A Sea Kings’ loss and they might share the title with not only Beckman, but also University (5-2 in league).
In the first meeting against Beckman, Gan was without senior outside hitter Jenny Martin and junior opposite Amanda Nickel.
