Martha George

Martha Folsom George, born October 11, 1916, passed away peacefully October 26, 2008 with her family at her bedside. Born in Lake Crystal, Minnesota, Martha chose to attend the University of Southern California. While as USC she met her future husband, Ray George, who was an offensive lineman on the football team. They wed in 1940 and enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage and winning seasons together. Martha and Ray moved to Corona del Mar in 1957 , where she joyfully taught third grade at Harbor View Elementary school. A special thanks to one of her favorite third grade students, Dr. John Storch for his loving care. Throughout her life, Martha stayed actively involved in the USC community, traveling with Trojan alumni and attending home football games up until 90 years of age. Martha will be missed by her two sons Jack and Greg and their wives Bonnie and Lynne. With fond memories of their grandma, Martha’s grandchildren include Ray, Stephen, Austin Colby and Whitney along with great-grandchildren Ashley, Evan, Ryan and baby Lucy on the way. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church located at 600 St. Andrews Rd. Newport Beach 92663. A reception will follow at the home of Greg George at 26 Cape Woodbury Newport Beach 92660.
