IRVINE — Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar will meet in a fifth-place semifinal today at 10 a.m., as the Back Bay rivals both suffered losses in their second pool-play games Friday at Irvine High.

CdM beat Acalanes, 17-6, but lost to Miramonte, 11-8.

Newport harbor lost to Coronado, 6-4,

The Sailors opened the tournament with an 18-3 win over Jesuit. Zach Lucas led Newport Harbor with six goals and Matt Russell added four. Andy Haeys scored three goals and had six assists. Jack Yeager and Zach Osadche had three assists each. David Linden and Dusty Hayes had three steals each.

Estancia Fall Classic

COSTA MESA — Costa Mesa won twice to advance to today’s semifinals at Estancia.

The Mustangs (10-4) defeated Bolsa Grande, 14-6, and then beat Los Amigos B, 20-6. They will play against Orange Coast League rival Sage Hill today at 10:30 a.m. in a semifinal match at Estancia.

Cody Serrano scored 12 goals, six in each victory. Dustin Serrano scored four goals against Bolsa Grande and five against Los Amigos. Chingiz Bigalimov scored five goals in the win over Los Amigos. Jackson O’Connor had 10 saves, six against Los Amigos.

“That’s a big one for us,” Costa Mesa Coach Justin Taylor said of today’s semifinal against Sage Hill. “We’ve always had close games against each other.”

Corona del Mar

All-American Tournament

CORONA DEL MAR — The host Sea Kings fell in the tournament quarterfinals to No. 3-seeded La Quinta, 5-3, at Corona del Mar High on Friday.

CdM had previously beaten the California Academy of Math and Science, 5-3, in the opening round.

CdM plays against Torrey Pines today at 8 a.m. at Corona del Mar High, in a fifth-place semifinal.
