COSTA MESA – Sophomore Ashley Peters shot two-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors in the Eagles’ Golden West League match Thursday at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.

Kim Haycraft shot a 40, while Jackie Crosson and Nicole Irigoyen both carded a 45, and Martiza Gonzalez finished with 51 for Estancia (6-2, 2-0 in league).

COSTA MESA — Junior Claire Ramser and senior Kylie Sheppard scored within a minute of one another with 10 minutes left in the first half in the nonleague game Thursday at the Harper Community Center.

Sophmore goalie Sydney King made seven saves and Sailors Coach Devon Kelly praised the defensive efforts of Nichole Vieira and Maggie Bernay.

Newport Harbor is now 3-0-2.

IRVINE — Freshman Katelyn Nguyen won both her sets at No. 1 singles and a pair of doubles teams remained unbeaten this season to key the Sea Kings in the nonleague road match Thursday.

Karen Ishii and Kalli Feeley won 18 of 19 games and the tandem of Danielle Kaiden and Lindsay Zotovich lost just two of 20 games to keep their perfect records intact.

CdM (4-0) is ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division I, while Northwood (3-2) is ranked No. 10.

Senior Kim Bjelland had 26 assists and senior Dana Gentling had 10 digs for Costa Mesa (4-6).

SAN CLEMENTE — Sydney Brombal had 10 kills and 17 digs for the Sea Kings against San Clemente, which won, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 25-15, Thursday night.

Madie Smith added 27 assists and 13 digs, while Jenny Martin had four service aces for Corona del Mar. Claire Ham and Conley Kipp finished with three blocks each.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

South Coast Tournament

NEWPORT BEACH — Newport Harbor High advanced to the quarterfinals after a pair of wins Thursday at Newport Harbor High. The Sailors topped Santa Margarita, 16-4, before beating Huntington Beach, 14-5.

Senior centers David Linden and Zach Osadche each had a team-high four goals against Santa Margarita for Newport Harbor (4-1). Junior driver Zach Lucas tallied a team-high four goals against Huntington Beach.

Newport Harbor will play El Toro in a tournament quarterfinal match today at 5 p.m. at Newport Harbor.
