A Huntington Beach police captain is moving up in the world. Capt. Craig Junginger has been selected as the new chief of police for the city of Gresham, Ore.
Junginger, 50, will start his new job Dec. 1, Gresham officials said this week. He will replace current Chief Carla Piluso, who is retiring from her job and running for a county commissioner seat in the state’s Multnomah County.
Junginger beat out 27 other applicants, including two former assistant chiefs from the Portland Police Department, a captain from Gresham and the police chief of the Port of Portland. He has been with Huntington Beach police for 22 years and been a captain in charge of administrative operations for one year.
According to Gresham officials, Junginger’s salary will be $121,800 per year.
