Three Anteaters garner all-tournament laurels

UC Irvine women’s volleyball standouts Lauren Kellerman, Kari Pestolesi and Taryn Robertson all received all-tournament honors at the Aztec Invitational, completed Saturday at San Diego State.

Kellerman, a senior outside hitter, had 25 kills in three matches, including 11 in the Anteaters’ lone loss to No. 22-ranked San Diego on Saturday. She also had nine of her 13 digs during the tournament against the Toreros. She also had four ace serves against San Diego.

Pestolesi, a sophomore opposite, had 24 kills in the tournament, in which UCI swept San Diego State and Albany. She had 14 kills and 12 digs against San Diego and had four aces against San Diego State.

Robertson, a junior setter, averaged 9.3 assists in 10 sets and also had 16 kills and a .640 hitting percentage. She was also the lone Anteater to reach double digits in total blocks with 10, including two solo blocks.

UCI returns to action Thursday when it meets No. 14-ranked Kansas State in the Nike Portland Invitational.
