Newport library to launch new, intuitive system

The Newport Beach Public Library will be closed twice in the next seven days. The first is today in honor of the Fourth of July. The second, on Tuesday, will be due to the implementation of the library’s new integration system called Millennium. As a result, library patrons will also be unable to place holds until after the opening of the new system Wednesday.
“There’s a lot of small enhancements,” Genesis Hansen, the library’s web services and technical processing coordinator, said. “It’s a more intuitive system, so it’s easier to train new staff.”
The public access catalog has been bolstered with more features, the main being that customers can sign up for notifications regarding new items by their favorite authors. Maneuvering around the catalog should also be made easier as they will no longer have to login multiple times.
