An apparently homeless man was found dead in Laguna Beach’s Heisler Park around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday by city work crews making their rounds, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said.
The workers discovered two people in the bushes, apparently sleeping. When they tried to move them along, one didn’t respond.
The dead man has been tentatively identified but his next of kin has not been notified yet so police cannot release the name. He is believed to be a 39-year-old white male from the Orange County area.
Police are waiting for autopsy and toxicology results to determine the cause of death. Alcohol was found at the scene and near the body, Kravetz said, adding that foul play is not suspected in the death at this time.
