Sea Kings, Sailors to collide in boys’ tennis

The Corona del Mar High and Newport Harbor boys’ tennis teams both have high hopes for this season. Today at 3 p.m. at CdM, the Back Bay rivals will meet in their annual nonleague clash.

Corona del Mar (7-1), led by senior Fabian Matthews, is ranked No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll.

Newport Harbor (3-2) also has plenty of seniors, including John Hutchinson, McKenna Duley and Taylor Friend.

“I’m excited about the match [today],” Sailors Coach Kristen Case said. “The boys played real well [Thursday, in a 10-8 victory over Esperanza]. Playing CdM is always fun because it’s the Back Bay rivalry.”
