Michael Dukakis to appear at Steve Young fundraiser

Rep. John Campbell’s Democratic opponent Steve Young has recruited former presidential contender Michael Dukakis for a fundraiser next Thursday.

The duo will appear from 7 to 9 p.m. March 20, at Lucca Cafe, 6507 Quail Hill Parkway, Irvine, for a $100-a-head fundraiser.

Young’s staff members said they were excited to host Dukakis, citing the former Massachusetts governor as a grassroots organizer who could teach local activists a lot.

“I saw him about a month ago when he was in the county, and quite honestly, I wasn’t expecting too much, but left completely revitalized,” said Melahat Rafiei, executive director of the Orange County Democratic Party. “After that, I was determined to get him back.”
