Sage Hill has 7 finalists for National Merit Scholarship
- Share via
Seven is indeed a lucky number for Sage Hill High School.
That’s how many Sage Hill students earned recognition as National Merit Scholarship Finalists Friday, Sage Hill officials said.
The top 1% of preliminary SAT scorers qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program based on the student’s sophomore- or junior-year test, according to the National Merit Program.
Of those students, about 1/3 are chosen as semi-finalists. The seven Sage Hill students were chosen to be part of the 15,000 finalists.
The finalists are: Danielle Goodman, Kellee Kim, Heather Siegel, Alex Heiney, Andrew Irvine, Rachel Lee and Sean McElroy.
From about 15,000 students, 8,200 students will win scholarships of $2,500 based on student activities, leadership and an essay.
Colleges provide scholarships to finalists accepted to their first college of choice.
