Professor makes proposals for Baja water issues

A Santa Clara University professor will visit UCI Feb. 27 to discuss water policy and its effect on Baja California and California borderlands.

Professor Perlita Dicochea will look at The New River, which can bring pollutants to the borderland areas. Officials in California and the surrounding communities in Baja have differing opinions on water policy. Dicochea will use transnational bio-regionalism as a basis to move toward a framework for coordinating resources between those affected.

Dicochea received a Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in ethnic studies with an affiliated discipline in environmental economics and policy. She is researching transnational bio-regionalism and is working directly in the area she will be speaking on.
