Howard Everett Wertman

Howard Everett Wertman born March 7, 1918 in Canton, Ohio and passed away January 25, 2008 at Laguna Hills, California. Howard, best known as Buck, is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of 63 years. He was preceded in death by his son Michael. Survivors who will greatly miss him are: his daughter, Linda Stricker of Dallas, Texas, daughter-in-law, Brooke Wertman Booth of Newport Beach, California, five grandchildren, Mike, Brett, Chris, Stacey and Greg, and six great-grandchildren. Buck was a Colonel in the Marine Corps (retired) and fought in World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam. He was proud to serve his country for 26 years. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Buck worked from 1969 to 1980 at UCI in the Department of Budget and Planning. Buck enjoyed playing golf and supporting his grandchildren in all their sporting events during their school years. His love, grace, kindness and sense of humor are fondly remembered by all who knew him. Memorial services will be private.
