RESTAURANT ROUNDUP:

New Year’s Eve is four days away — and restaurants around town are chilling the champagne, outlining the menus and preparing for the countdown and confetti.
Here are a few Newport-Mesa eateries that have planned special events to ring in 2008:
French 75, a bistro and steakhouse at 327 Newport Center Drive in Fashion Island, has two seatings scheduled for Monday — one from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the other from 9 to 9:30 p.m.
The first seating features a three-course menu with appetizers including Maine lobster salad, Dungeness crab and corn chowder and oysters on the half-shell; entrees including surf and turf, roasted rack of lamb and orange-macadamia nut-crusted scallops, and desserts including tiramisu and rustic apple tart.
The second seating features four courses — including mostly the same items — as well as a champagne toast.
The first seating is $75 per person, and the second seating is $95 per person, both excluding tax and gratuity. Call (949) 640-2700 for more information.
Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, also located at Fashion Island, has a four-course meal planned Monday from 5 to 10 p.m.
The menu includes appetizers ranging from cheese and herb ravioli to bigeye ahi tartar, soups, salads and a number of steak and seafood entrees. Desserts include red velvet cupcakes, chocolate Kona coffee flan, and Asian pear and apple tart.
Roy’s is located at 453 Newport Center Drive. Call (949) 640-7697 for more information.
At South Coast Plaza, the Clubhouse plans to offer four special entrees — surf and turf, Porterhouse steak, butternut squash ravioli and mahi mahi — in addition to its regular menu.
The first seating begins at 4 p.m., with the last one at 10 p.m. before a champagne toast at midnight.
Call (714) 708-2582 for more information.
