Ocean View girls begin 12-team tourney

The 2007 Ocean View Girls’ Varsity Basketball Tournament begins Monday with pool play action.

Twelve teams — Mayfair of Lakewood and Leuzinger of Lawndale are the only out-of-county teams in the tournament — will compete in the six-day event which plays throughout next week, culminating in the championship game Dec. 22.

The title game will be played at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and is preceded by the third-place game at 1 p.m., fifth-place game at 11:20 a.m. and the seventh-place game at 10 a.m.

Pool B: Mayfair, Ocean View, Tesoro

Pool C: Dana Hills, Mater Dei, Pacifica

Pool D: Fountain Valley, Leuzinger, Northwood

5 p.m.: Leuzinger vs. Northwood

6:30 p.m.: Ocean View vs. Tesoro

8 p.m.: Santa Margarita vs. University

Tuesday

3:30 p.m.: Capistrano Valley vs. University

5 p.m.: Ocean View vs. Mayfair

6:30 p.m.: Fountain Valley vs. Northwood

8 p.m.: Mater Dei vs. Pacifica

Wednesday

3:30 p.m.: Fountain Valley vs. Leuzinger

5 p.m.: Mayfair vs. Tesoro

6:30 p.m.: Dana Hills vs. Mater Dei

8 p.m.: Capistrano Valley vs. Santa Margarita

* NOTE: Four games will be played will be played between 3:30 and 9:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21.
