Spitting Llamas win boys’ under-12 AYSO crown

The Spitting Llamas completed an unbeaten season with a 3-1 victory over Maroon 13 for the boys’ under-12 championship of AYSO Region 57.

The Spitting Llamas withstood a fierce Maroon 13 first-period offensive effort to rally for the impressive victory. The Maroon 13 drew first with a breakaway goal by Elias Francisco in the opening moments of the game. The Llamas answered back with a goal five minutes later by Kevin Hill off an assist by Matt Hurst. Just before halftime, Gunnar Logan scored, which proved to be the winning goal, off the assist of Randall Hill.

The second half of the contest proved to be very physical with strong defense on the Llamas side by Spencer Cornman, Erick Francis, Blake Hensen and Junior Johnson. Skylar Hauck and Brad Lenell stopped numerous shots from their goalie positions to hold The Maroon to the single goal. Collin “Halsey” Stark tallied the final goal off a crossing pass from Jonathon Skolnick The midfield was controlled by Jake Carlis, as he put out numerous advances by the attackers.

The Spitting Llamas got to the finals by compiling an undefeated 13-0-1 season. During the playoff stretch alone they scored 16 goals to their opponents’ one.
