Wheaton College freshman Sarah Geocaris, a Sage Hill School product, became the Lyons’ first women’s tennis player selected to a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference All-Conference team since 2004.
Named to the second team at the second singles position, Geocaris is Wheaton’s first rookie voted to an all-league team in four years. She was nearly perfect in dual matches this fall, going 11-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Geocaris notched 10 of those 11 wins in straight sets, including each of the six victorious league matches. Adding in tournament play, she was 12-3 overall.
Geocaris also had a solid season in doubles play, teaming with a classmate in posting a 10-3 record in dual matches from the top slot. Finishing 5-2 in the NEWMAC, the duo won its first six matches of the season. The tandem also competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn. Regional Tournament and New England Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament.
Geocaris helped the Lyons of Norton, Mass., post their best victory total in a fall season since 2003, as the team went 8-5.
Wheaton also advanced to the semifinals in the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time in three years.
