SAN JOSE — The UC Irvine lost 2-1 to San Jose State Sunday in a non-conference match at Spartan Stadium.
The Anteaters (6-4-1) and Spartans played scoreless until the 85th minute. Jessica Scott chipped the ball over freshman keeper Danielle de Seriere’s head to put San Jose State up 1-0.
The Spartans went up 2-0 when Scott scored again with 2:33 remaining. The Anteaters answered less than a minute later when sophomore Kate Berrini scored from outside the box at the 88:13 mark.
Danielle de Seriere had three saves for the Anteaters. Nina Butera had 11 saves for the Spartans. The Anteaters host Cal Poly Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Big West Conference play at Anteater Stadium.
