Snoop Dogg hearing to continue until September

A preliminary hearing scheduled Thursday for rapper-actor Snoop Dogg was continued until Sept. 12, Orange County prosecutors said.
The star, whose legal name is Calvin Broadus, faces charges of carrying an illegal weapon into John Wayne Airport last September. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Broadus, 35, after airport security screeners found a collapsible baton in his laptop case.
He was not present for his arraignment in January and instead had his lawyer appear to plead not guilty to the felony charges.
Broadus and his lawyer claim the baton was only intended to be used as a prop for the filming of a video in New York, but prosecutors are calling the 20-inch baton an illegal weapon.
